Biodynamic
Biodynamic farming applies a holistic approach. In biodynamics, the vineyard is considered as a whole ecosystem in which the plants, animals, soil and workers are all important. Rather than fighting disease with chemicals, biodynamic vines are treated with herb and mineral-based preparations. Planting, pruning, picking and bottling of biodynamic wines, are all based on a lunar calendar. Biodynamic practitioners believe that when everything is in balance, the vines will produce better quality grapes (which in turn leads to better wines). Biodynamics is taking the wine world by storm currently, with top producers such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Château Palmer and Louis Roederer all adopting biodynamics. Working with nature, not against it.
