Domaine des Marnes Blanches
This is the first release from their newly acquired ‘Au Rettin’ vineyards. These Chardonnay and Savagnin vines are 35 years old, planted on Triassic marl, giving the wine depth and power that fits Pauline and Géraud’s style to a tee.
Pauline and Géraud call the beautiful Alpine region of Jura home. Having met while away studying, they came back to begin Les Marnes Blanches. They have always had a focus on soils and even took the name from the white marl of their first site, Cesancey. Each plot is vinified separately, allowing the different soils to come through. The winemaking is slow and deliberate with wines ageing for at least two years before release, so when it came to building the winery, they made sure they had plenty of room!
The attention to detail and time that go into these wines are extraordinary. They are aromatic, salt-streaked and balanced. If you have a love of Jura wines, or just love a pop of salt, these are not to be missed. Their quiet power lends them to pairing with dinner, whole grilled turbot with shrimp and capers anyone? But we'd happily enjoy every one of these wines with not much more than a big bowl of salty pretzels.

Blind Summit
This project is about James and Jamie, who have been bottling and blending whisky for just three years, although they spent seventeen years tasting, buying and selling other people’s whisky before they took the plunge and started their own project. It’s an adventure and we’re along for the ride.
Every bottling is a one-off. They travel across Scotland sniffing out barrels to bring home to Leith where each is treated completely differently. Some bring balance to a blend, and some are conditioned and aged until it is just right for bottling. This operation is properly tiny; James and Jamie have selected the whisky, racked it, blended it, bottled and labelled it themselves.
These gents champion independent people and businesses in Leith and in the wider whisky community and we’re chuffed to bring their whiskies to our shelves and your glasses.
Fletcher Wines
We’re big fans of Dave here at The Sourcing Table, having sold (and happily drunk) his wines for five years now, and to us there’s no doubt that they’re getting better, and more delicious, with every vintage.
His latest releases are no exception, which is testament to Dave as a winemaker, as 2023 was certainly not the easiest vintage in Barbaresco. It was a year that demanded real care in the vineyard, particularly with canopy management as temperatures soared towards the end of the season. Those who got it right were rewarded with some truly top-rate wines, and a quick glance at Walter Speller’s recent scores for the 2023s makes it clear that Fletcher belongs firmly in that group
Giuseppe cipolla
Giuseppe’s wines are as distinctive as the soils on which they are grown: a remarkable mix of chalk, gypsum, sulphur and ancient salt deposits, in what was previously an important salt and sulphur mining landscape. It gives the wines an extraordinary tension and acid backbone, in total defiance of the blistering Sicilian sun. In short, these are textural, profound and unarguably delicious.
Every decision Giuseppe makes in the winery has a single goal: to fully express the grapes and this remarkable terroir. He works exclusively with indigenous yeasts and bottles without filtration.
His choices in the vineyard are just as considered, using traditional training methods that provide much-needed shade for the bunches while maintaining airflow and reducing disease pressure, allowing him to use zero synthetic chemicals.
