Edition 22 of The Wine Club sees us through some transitional months before we meet again in summer.
Breaking open your parcel, wine 1 is a Riesling from Clemens Busch. It is a beautiful story of spring flavours; it’s bright, light and lean. We move on to a Gavi that is bucking the trends of the region to produce wines that celebrate more complexity and structure than is often seen. The baton is handed to Johan Meyer for the next wine. Representing a partnership between winemaker and importer, this wine is showing off the fruit of South Africa. Moving in from Savoie, we have wine 4, a Jacquere. Sylvain’s path into winemaking, via the barrels, was not route one. But it has certainly paid off, and deliciously at that! The reds move in for wine 5. A partnership between two pretty special winemakers to represent the region they call home. This is an ethereal Garnacha, perfect for spring. Rounding the case off, a Saint Joseph. The richest wine of the selection, this is the product of a partnership between neighbours sharing ideology, resources, and a postcode.
As we look into spring, hopefully you’re now stocked with a new wine for those fresh crisp spring days, as well as something to hunker down with and sink into on a dreary wet afternoon.
