This wine is fine, persistent and powerful. It is rich and heady with cherry dominating the fruit profile, while tobacco, cedar and dried rosemary bring a rich aromatic note. This wine is ready to drink now but would also cellar for another ten years should you wish, such is the winemaking from López de Heredia.
For 145 years, López de Heredia has remained one of Rioja's most important, and sought-after producers. They own all 170 hectares of the vines they farm, some up to 100 years in age, and have been working without chemical intervention for generations. The sustainability practices being prioritised today by younger producers have been the bedrock of López de Heredia's production from day one.
Perhaps the most unique quality of these wines, which is also key to their great demand, is how long they're aged before release. It is a very special experience to enjoy these wines, which are bottled history in themselves.
