Giuseppe Cipolla makes soulful, distinctive wines in the hills around Agrigento, southern Sicily, from vineyards rooted in an extraordinary mix of chalk, gypsum, sulphur and ancient salt deposits. Once an important mining landscape, these mineral-rich soils bring remarkable freshness and tension to the wines, even under the intensity of the Sicilian sun.

Everything Giuseppe does is geared towards expressing this unique place. In the vineyard he works without synthetic chemicals, using traditional training methods to protect the grapes from the heat while maintaining airflow. In the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, with no filtration and minimal intervention. The resulting wines are deeply textural, energetic and full of character — unmistakably Sicilian, but very much with a voice of their own.
