Lifted and finely structured, with red cherry, raspberry and rose leading into liquorice, dried orange peel, mint and a touch of earth. The fruit comes from several Barbaresco sites, including Faset, Ca’ Grossa, Serragrilli and Ronchi, with vines averaging around 25 years old.
The Nebbiolo is hand harvested, destemmed and naturally fermented with very gentle extraction, before ageing for around two years in seasoned oak. Fletcher favours older 300-litre barrels rather than large new-oak influence, preserving freshness and site character; the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
There’s plenty of fruit through the middle, but the defining feature is the energy: bright acidity, fine tannin and a long, savoury finish. Elegant rather than heavy, with the perfume and transparency that make Barbaresco so compelling.

David Fletcher is an Australian native who really REALLY loves Nebbiolo, and that obsession has happily blossomed into a similar appreciation for other Piedmontese varieties too. He started making wine right out of high school, even though he had no family connection to the industry, and no vineyards to inherit (as is often the way. For better or worse, there is a lot of nepotism in the wine industry). In 2006 he came across Nebbiolo in his native Australia, which lead him on a journey that culminated in moving to Italy in 2016 to pursue his great love.
Fletcher Wines was born in Barbaresco's old train station, and to this day David still crafts his wines there.
