Kiralyudvar
Volcanic activity has shaped the region of Tokaj in the north of Hungary , with a climate of early autumn rains and Indian summers it has the perfect conditions for Noble Rot to occur. The Királyudvar estate, which translates as King’s Court, dates back to the 16th century, it supplied wine to the Hapsburgs.
Its fortunes have ebbed and flowed, but when American businessman Anthony Hwang, who also owns Domaine Huet in the Loire, bought the estate in 1997 he partnered with renowned local winemaker István Szepsy and together they started to rebuild the quality and reputation of the estate. In addition to word-class Tokaji they also produce dry, demi-sec, and sparkling wines.
