Bright ruby red, full of juicy cranberry and strawberry fruits, with leather, stony, and smoky notes on the finish. Balanced and complex, a brilliant example.
Mastrojanni made their first wine in 1978. There are a few key moments through this history that bring us to today. In 1990, Maurizio Castelli became winemaker and still holds the job today, making wine from the 37 plots of vineyards Mastrojanni have, sprinkled over Montalcino. Each of these plots has a unique influence on the wine thanks to the geological structures, soil types and microclimates. Looking after these precious soils is the job of Onofrio Saggese, who is head of agriculture- "since I arrived, this land has become my family. Caring for it is not just a job; it is an act of love.". Although they have never used herbicides as Mastrojanni, as of November 2022, they haven't applied any chemicals at all in the vineyards. This has been a transformative journey for them.
This heritage is felt throughout the Mastrojanni range. These wines are elegant yet powerful and tell the wonderful stories of the microclimates they know.
