Vale du Capucha is a unique project-based in Torres Vedras, just 9km from the Atlantic Ocean. Thanks to its past as an ancient sea bed, the soils here are rich in fossils and Kimmeridgian clay; drawing similarities to Chablis.
Winemaker Pedro Marques is dedicated to replanting indigenous, Portuguese varieties here though he has hung onto a particularly special parcel of 80+-year-old Syrah. This, alongside traditional Port grapes Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, makes up the blend for their 'Fossil' Tinto. Named 'Fossil' after its soils, this gorgeous red is brimming with red berry fruit, soft herbs and spice.
