'Calco' Chardonnay is a perfect example of modern Chilean winemaking. As Jamie puts it, 'think Chablis with a Chilean twist'. The crisp, minerality associated with great Chablis meets the fleshy, beautifully rounded texture straight from Chile's Limarí Valley. Zingy citrus, juicy green apples and fresh pear, with a delightfully mouthwatering finish.

Triangle wines is an exciting joint venture between The Sourcing Tables own Ben Henshaw, Master of Wine Alvaro Ribalta and the De Martino Winery in Chile's Maipo Valley. The project was born from a shared, burning desire to create small parcels of wine from special plots in the cool Pacific-influenced Limarí Valley.

'An indication of just how accomplished modern winemaking in Chile can be. This is an exceptional, dry, crisp Limari Valley chardonnay - well rounded, pure and mineral, with lashings of soft white fruit. You could easily mistake this for a wine from one of the famous regions in France.' - Will Lyons, The Sunday Times

From De Martino in collaboration with Ben Henshaw and Alvaro Ribalta of Indigo Wines (the collaboration is part of Triangle Wines, and also has a couple of wines from Argentina in the range), this is grown on clay/limestone soils, which are rare in Chile, and is aged for 12 months in used oak. It’s concentrated but very fresh and linear with precise chalky, mineral focus to the citrus and pear fruit. There’s no noticeable oak, and the palate has a fresh, linear, mineral tone. Think Chablis with a Chilean twist. Very refined.

Very cool and restrained on the nose with some impression of minerality. Extremely delicate oak influence and yet real intensity of flavour, and very bright fruit with light notes of green vegetation. Nice little bit of chew on the end and impressive persistence for the price – which is excellent for a three-year-old wine made this well. VGV
