When we tasted this wine, the first word we wrote on our notes was 'Yum'! It really is the epitome of 'yum', with zippy green apple and lemon citrus, plus a heavenly nutty, almost creamy texture on the palate. This blend of 90% Verdicchio and 10% Chardonnay is the perfect example of why Italian wines are often such fabulous value. Full to the brim with flavour, this is a whole lot of wine for less than £20. If you're a fan of great Chablis, this will be right up your street.
La Calcinara is based in Marche, on the eastern coast of Italy. A family business, it is now run by dynamo sibling duo Paolo and Eleonora whose electric personalities and immense talent are taking the winery by storm. Their joint fascination for wine led them across the world, from Italy to Chile and New Zealand. Returning home, they set out to define the family business on their own terms - choosing to marry the region's traditions and the lessons learned on their travels to produce brilliant wines that we can't get enough of.
