This is definitely not your average rosé. The palate is elegant, brimming with wild strawberry and fragrant orange peel, alongside savoury, herbal notes with a touch of oak sweetness right at the very end. This is a triumph of the rosé style, and a fantastic option to pair with a wide range of food. If you're a big fan of spice, this is your secret weapon. It's especially fantastic with aromatic spices and east Asian cuisine.
Jose Luis Ripa is passionate about two things: his native Rioja, and incredible rosé.Born and raised in this famous Spanish region, speaking with Jose Luis is like speaking with a walking encyclopaedia of Rioja's history (past, present and even future). His knowledge is frankly unrivalled. He spent a good chunk of his career working at the historic CVNE estate, before joining the equally historic, and highly acclaimed Lopez de Heredia in 2010. Here he fell in love with their sensational aged Rioja rosé ... and also Maria Lopez de Heredia, who he married two years later (he even proposed with a bottle of their famous rosé). During his Master of Wine studies, Jose Luis also travelled extensively, discovering more amazing examples of aged rosé ( Pibarnon, Trevallon, Tempier, Chateau Simone etc) that further ignited his obsession. With the support of his wife, and their family at Lopez de Heredia, Jose Luis started the 'Ripa' project in 2016 with the view of crafting the ultimate aged Rioja rosé that pays homage to all the w great rosé styles. 'José Luis Ripa produces one rosé in Rioja, but his idea is the rosé from Château Simone—a rosé with more colour, more body, a rosé that goes with different food.'
