'El Tofol' is a tiny single vineyard - just one hectare - of Macabeo planted in 1969, which L'Enclos de Peralba proudly farm biodynamically. Macabeo is a variety that often flies under the radar, and is usually bottled as a blend rather than being allowed to shine on its own.
This wine shows exactly why it's worthy of our time; fresh and aromatic with stone fruits and a gorgeous, oily texture that's balanced with flinty minerality and vibrant acidity
12.5% alcohol. Limey and intense with high acidity and a mineral core. This has lovely pithy intensity with some structure to the pronounced citrus fruit. So lively and energetic.
Edgy, lifted nose. Some real elegance and transparency here. You can certainly taste that the grapes have been gently coaxed into wine. Lovely fresh, confident texture with real raciness. A sleek wine with great length. Impressive! This would be a useful educational tool to demonstrate the character of Macabeu (aka Macabeo or Viura).
