To say that Zind Humbrecht's Pinot Noir is a rarity is a gross understatement. This is the one red wine that the historic domaine produces, all from a single iron rich red limestone vineyard called Heimbourg, a tiny 0.32ha site.
This is a deliciously aromatic and ethereal style of Pinot Noir, a far cry from the almost bombastic, heavily oaked reds that are sadly much more common. The 2019 is singing, and is a must try for any lover of classical Pinot Noir or those looking discover something unique from Alsace.
Organic since 1997 and Biodynamic since 2002, Zind Humbrecht are revolutionaries in sustainability viticulture in Alsace. The estate is historic, but it wasn't until Olivier Humbrecht MW took over the family business that people really started to sit up and listen. It is a very unique thing to have a Master of Wine running a winery, and Olivier brought his knowledge outside of Alsace to bring innovation to his family cellar. These are exciting wines that pay homage to tradition whilst constantly looking to the future.
