Located on the Tuscan coastline, the Maremma wine region is home to Super Tuscan producers Ornellaia and Sassicaia and is recognized for its concentrated expressions of Sangiovese, known locally as Morellino. Antonio Camillo’s Morellino di Scansano is no exception, with intense aromas of black plums, cherries, and sweet spice. It is round in the palate with soft tannins from time in bottle, making it a wonderfully food friendly wine; locals recommend pairing with hearty game dishes, including wild boar.

About Antonio Camillo

Antonio has taken care of vineyards in major wineries around Maremma, contributing to the production of wines for the region for 25 years. In 2006 he has embarked on his own project, dedicating his time exclusively to indigenous, and often underrated, grapes such as Procanico and Ciliegiolo.

He works almost exclusively with old vines, aged between 40 and 50 years, cultivated according to traditional methods. He ferments with indigenous yeasts and eschews chemical intervention, practising organic viticulture. These are unmistakably Tuscan wines.
