Pierre Luneau-Papin
Pierre Luneau and Monique Apin were both born into families with a long history of making wine. They established Domaine Luneau-Papin in 1993 in Le Landreau, a village in the heart of Muscadet country, where small hamlets dot a landscape of vineyards on low hills. The estate has been in existence since the early 18th century when it was already planted with Melon de Bourgogne, the Muscadet appellation's single varietal.
Pierre remembers his grandfathers were passionate about winemaking - already working in the Burgundian style, fermenting and ageing everything in small barrels. "Parcels were vinified separately, and as I child I remember when you came to visit my dad, you came to taste different terroirs. It's a beautiful region to make wine, and Melon is a grape that really captures the minerality of a soil".
