La Soeur Cadette
La Soeur Cadette is based in Vezelay, a relatively new Burgundy appellation that was brought to life in 1997. It operates as a negociants between like-minded friends, all with a joint dedication to growing organic vines across the Cot d'Or. The intention is to make honest and authentic wines which reflect the distinctive character of their region and the climate of a particular year. Alongside the classic Burgundy varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, La Soeur Cadette also work with the ancient red variety César - named after the Emperor and brought to France during the Roman invasion - and a Burgundian mutation of Melon de Bourgogne. It is a fascinating project, making delicious, imaginative wines in the classic region.
