Birgit Braunstein
We first met Birgit Braunstein in a tasting in Austria and were instantly taken by the purity and frankness of her wines. Birgit's family has been growing vines next to Lake Neusiedl for 400 years.
The schist, shell limestone and quartz of the Leitha Mountains, and the unique microclimate near Lake Neusiedl give their wines a natural ripeness and terroir-specific minerality. The crisp, cool night air on the Leitha Mountain slopes adds finesse and vitality. She works organically and biodynamically across a wide range of terroirs, and her wines reflect this natural balance.
