A stunning red blend with balance and poise, it consists primarily of Teran with 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This cuvée is released with at least six years of age behind it, resulting in incredible complexity. The nose is savoury with layers of leather, mushroom, liquorice and spice. The richness is balanced by freshness and juicy plum fruit, and a touch of salinity.

About Vina Cotar

The Ĉotar family vineyards are five kilometres from the sea, on wild and rocky terrain. This dry, Mediterranean land receives lots of sun, the fierce Bora wind and a cooling effect from the Adriatic Sea. The geology is particular - terra rossa soil consisting of a thin layer of red limestone topsoil that’s rich in iron.

The history of the small cellar began in 1974, when they started to make wine to serve in their restaurant. One white and one red slowly transitioned into more wines. Branko and his son have been responsible for maintaining the environmentally respectful practices both in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Wines are made in a natural style, with no added sulphur, fermentation is with wild yeasts, no filtration, and all of the wines spend time on their skins. This cellar, built into natural rock, allows the wine to move by gravity and the same vessels for fermentation are used for aging. Their philosophy, teamed with such a unique and special environment, gives elegant and complex wines with a huge amount of depth.
