More commonly seen as part of a blend, this wine offers a rare varietal expression of the Ciliegolo grape. The name literally means ‘cherry-like’, a reference to its distinct sour cherry character. In this textural red from San Ferdinando, cherries mingle with aromas of dried herbs and lavender on the nose. The palate is playful, with refreshing acidity and fine soft tannins. An flavoursome, easy-drinking wine, perfect for classic Italian dishes.

About San Ferdinando

The San Ferdinando estate has been a fixture in Chianti for well over a century. It has been owned by the Grifoni family since the 1850's, nestled in the hamlet of Civitella in Val di Chiana just southeast of Florence. In 2008, the current generation of Grifoni's started to convert their estate to organic viticulture and breathed exciting new life into this classic name. They embrace native, local varieties such as Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Pugnitello, and Vermentino - bringing balance and quality alongside exceptional value.
