Roagna produce their sublime Dolcetto, using fruit from two parcels in Barbaresco. Antonio Galloni explains that 'Luca Roagna gave the 2018 an incredible 100 days on the skins, just like wines that were made decades ago, when, for practical reasons, farmers had multiple crops to look after and took wines off the skins around Christmas'. The result is a structured expression of Dolcetto, with silky tannins and a vibrant palate bursting with dark forest fruits. All the signature 'Roagna' style for a fraction of the Barbaresco price.

Roagna's 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba is bright, floral and very nicely lifted, with striking aromatic nuance and tons of pure class. Sweet red cherry, licorice and crushed flowers are beautifully delineated. In 2018, the Dolcetto is especially refined, lifted and nervous in feel. Luca Roagna gave the 2018 an incredible 100 days on the skins, just like wines that were made decades ago, when, for practical reasons, farmers had multiple crops to look after and took wines off the skins around Christmas. The Roagna Dolcetto is made from two parcels in Barbaresco.

About Roagna

Roagna are a historic, and highly regarded Piedmont producer who can trace their roots back to the mid 1800's in Barbaresco. Luca Roagna is the latest member of the family to lead the charge, working alongside his father to produce exceptional expressions of Nebbiolo. They are known for their wealth of old vineyards, which are farmed organically without certification. Theirs is a simple approach; care for the growing environment and produce wines with as little intervention as possible. Though famed for their Barbaresco and Barolo, they also produce an excellent Dolcetto that is fast become a Sourcing Table staff staple.
