Telmo Rodriguez is changing modern perceptions of Rioja, moving towards a more terroir focused style of winemaking with the belief that wines are made in the vineyard, not in the winery.
In this special mixed case you will find a selection from both of his projects, Remelluri and Bodega Lanzaga, all three wines the perfect example of the new, pure, fruit focused Rioja.
A site-specific wine with history, the Lindes de Remelluri was created in homage to the growers that have long worked for the estate and brought their grapes into Remelluri. Lindes means borders and this wine is made from vineyards in the surrounding villages of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. The fruit, which used to be blended into Remelluri’s main wine, is now allowed to shine in this site-specific bottling. The result is a well- balanced wine, with notes dark fruit and spice, a silky tannic texture and juicy concentration.
The flagship of the Remelluri estate, this is predominantly Tempranillo with smaller portions of Garnacha, Graciano, Viura and Malvasía completing the blend. Aged for 17 months in barrel and released after a minimum of three years in the cellar, the result is rich and savoury, with dense colour and beautifully integrated structure. The nose is deeply perfumed with earthy red fruit and sweet spice, that carry to the palate along with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity.
The term Corriente was used in Spain in the early 20th century to describe good, approachable everyday wines drunk by ordinary people, that reflect their region. Our Corriente is smooth and fragrant, combining berries, spicy oak and earthy tannins, it makes an excellent food wine.
