Naked and unadorned – this is a natural white blend that hides nothing. Based in Burgenland, Heinrich have embraced biodynamics in a big way and their Naked wines are designed to showcase the naked beauty of mother nature.
This blend of Chardonnay, Weissburgunder and Welshriesling has 24 hours of skin contact creates phenomenal texture and aromatics, think citrus, garden herbs and baked apples. Confident, delicious naked wine.
Fun. Lots of fruit and pizzazz plus a really green-fruit streak of natural acidity. Great balance and actually not that much evidence of skin contact. A little pungent and a lot on the finish. Very skilful. Someone here wanted to join the kids but kept a strict eye on what was happening in the barrels. Bravo!
Gernot and Heike Heinrich put their heart and soul into their wines and it shows in this diverse range with energy and finesse. They have never been afraid to innovate - after taking over Gernot’s family winery in 1985 they were among the first in the region to produce high-quality reds, seeing the potential in local varietals like Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and St Laurent. Heinrich have vineyards on the Leithaberg, southwest of Vienna, and also on the other side of Lake Neusiedl where the gentle slopes of the Pannonian Plain give a warmer microclimate.
They are passionate about biodynamics because they feel it’s right for the planet but also because Gernot believes that the best wines express a sense of place, and that they can only do this if they're rooted in a biologically diverse environment and the vines live in symbiosis with a healthy ecosystem. They have a flock of the friendliest, most contented looking sheep we’ve ever met, as well as ducks and hens, and bee hives in some of their vineyards!
