This stellar Chablis comes from En Boucheran, a small that parcel sits between the Premiers Crus of Montmains and Vaillons. Its vines run and down the slope across three slightly varied soil types, which combine to create a nuanced, terroir-driven wine.
The nose is at once delicate and intensely perfumed with aromas of citrus, white peach and apple blossom. In the mouth, it is like a livewire – crackling with tension and energy. The palate is rich, juicy, and broad, with searing acidity and a long, creamy finish.
Husband and wife duo, Eleni and Edouard Vocoret, are part of an exciting new generation of Chablisien producers. (If the Vocoret name sounds familiar, it’s because Edouard's family owns Domaine Vocoret & Fils, a large Chablis Domaine renowned for its solid, classically-styled wines.)
The pair met in 2010 while working harvest in New Zealand but returned to Chablis to run a small 5-hectare plot in the family vineyard. Inspired by mentor and Chablis icon Vincent Dauvissat, they embrace single-vineyard Chablis production with a focus on traditional farming and vinification methods.
Their wines are characterised by brilliant minerality and a bracing clarity of flavour that is a testament to their conscientious farming, low yields, and a deft hand in the winery.
