This bright Mediterranean-style red with tons of fruit and juicy tannins would make a great pasta wine. It's silky and smooth with brambly blackberry fruit, tobacco, dried herbs, chocolate and coffee, soft tannins, and a spicy, savory finish.
Con-Greg Grigoriou aka Delinquente Wine Co. grew up on a vineyard in the Riverland, an area best known for producing unremarkable, high-volume wines. One day he tasted a wine from one of the regions smaller vineyards, planted with southern Italian varietals, ideally suited for the hot dry conditions. It was a lightbulb moment, he decided he would make high-quality wines in his home region using these alternative plantings.
Since then he’s been making small-batch, single-vineyard wines that are pure, drinkable and delicious - or as Greg would put it, utterly “smashable”. To complete his vision he recruited local Adelaide street artist Ankles to design the edgy, eye-catching labels. Amid a sea of Big Wine, Delinquente has managed to convey a unique aesthetic and clear point of view: fun, uncomplicated and terroir-driven wines that will challenge people’s perception of the Riverland.
