This selection of rare bottles adds an extra sparkle to the glittering festive season. Decadent, hedonistic wines made in tiny quantities from sought-after producers that we adore. This is the perfect selection to really impress the wine lover in your life. Hard to find, yet easy to love. Enjoy a rare selection this festive season!

In the Case:

  • Douge, 'Val Mentra' Extra Brut, Champagne 2017

'Val Mentra' speaks to its amazing soils; a small parcel of Pinot Noir grown on Kimmeridgian clay, which is rich in fossils that impart a distinctive minerality to the final wine (much like in Chablis, where these soils are also commonly found). The result is a combination of racy acidity, with notes of plush red currant and yellow plum, plus a gorgeous rich texture in the mouth.

  • Novum, Chardonnay, Marlborough, New Zealand 2020

You would be forgiven for tasting this and expecting it to come from a bottle of fine white Burgundy. This is an outstanding Chardonnay that redefines how we view Marlborough. Textural, with very fine acidity, fleshy yellow fruits and a touch of brioche. It pays homage to the elegant styles of Burgundy, whilst remaining a true celebration of New Zealand’s terroir.

  • City on a Hill, Chenin Blanc, Swartland, South Africa 2020

This is the purity of South Africa's finest terroir, distilled into a single bottle. This Chenin is produced from only the very best barrels 'City on a Hill' crafts in each vintage, offering a textural, fruit-forward wine brimming with orchard fruit, white peach and lemon. A wine that perfectly showcases why this white grape is synonymous with fringe South African winemaking

  • Domaine Jean-Michel Stephan, Cote-Rotie 'Les Binardes', 2018

A complex, spicy wine from a small vineyard plot on a steeply terraced slope on the celebrated Cote Blonde - renowned for producing wines with finesse and elegance. Moreish dark fruits, violets and liquorice are balanced by a fresh palate with lovely minerality. The Syrah blended with just 10% Viognier, adds a delicate perfume to the nose.

  • Timo Mayer, 'Close Planted' Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, Australia 2021

As the name suggests, this wine comes from a densely planted portion of Timo’s famed 'Bloody Hill' vineyard, where the vines are positioned just 75 cm apart from each other. This offers a new dimension to the already beautiful wines from this site. Alongside more structure and grip than the others, this is a fragrant, earthy expression with notes of spice, redcurrants, wild herbs and a touch of mushroom on the finish.
