Perhaps a name that requires no introduction, Chateau d'Yquem is the only winery in Sauternes to hold the coveted classification of 1er Cru Classé supérieur. Vintage to vintage, it is consistently heralded as the world's finest sweet wine and is capable of ageing for endless decades.
2017 was a masterful vintage for this iconic wine. A lack of frost meant that the growing season was near perfect, allowing botrytis to develop consistently and evenly.
To quote The Wine Advocate: 'The incredibly rich, unctuous sweetness (148 grams per litre of residual sugar) is beautifully marbled with bright, vivacious citrus fruit and spice flavours'. A bottle to buy, store and then forget about for 40-50 years.
