- Cabernet FrancCabernet SauvignonSumoll
This fragrant red fills your mouth with juicy black fruit and a touch of herbaceousness. It's blended from different vineyards and varieties from across the estate. The tannins are ripe the finish is long works perfectly with lamb and other grilled meats. The ‘Franc’ in the wine’s name comes from their desire to reflect the soils and place in an honest and respectful way. In their own words they are attempting to ‘catch the genie from the vineyard, and put it in a bottle’.
About Celler Pardas
Celler Pardas is part of the new generation of producers in Catalonia focussing on their land and local grapes such as Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Sumoll. The project began in 1996 when local winegrowers Ramón Parera and Jordi Arnan bought the Can Comas estate in high Penedés. The medieval farmhouse was surrounded by 60 hectares of forest, pasture and scrub land, cut through by the Bitlles River. They cleared some areas and started planting cuttings.
Their focus is preserving the balance and health of their land, they farm organically without irrigation, working in partnership with nature. It took them a while to produce wines they were happy to put their name to, the first estate wines released were from the 2004 vintage. We think it was well worth waiting for such authentic and delicious wines which speak unashamedly of their origin.
