Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz is one to watch. He is part of the wave of young, exciting Jura producers who are enamoured by the world of biodynamic and natural winemaking. Originally a part-time teacher for disabled children, Jean-Baptiste was inspired by his good friend Raphael Monnier to take the plunge into winemaking. In his own words, he simply wants to 'make the wines that we like to drink ourselves.'
The 'Face B' Savagnin bucks Jura tradition. Rather than encouraging an oxidative style, Jean-Baptiste has focused on making a vibrant and elegant expression of this native Jure grape. White peach and pear play against a lovely zip of citrus acidity, to make for a very fresh and restrained white wine.
